Flowers from 1900 Palestine

These flower images are from a book published in 1905, The Cruise of the Eight Hundred To and Through Palestine, and represent flowers typically found in the Middle East at that time.  They were water-color paintings done by Mrs. Bertha Spofford Vester, of the American Colony, Jerusalem, at the turn of the century.  This book notes: "There are 3,500 flowering plants in Syria and 1,700 in Palestine alone."  Below are 4 plants illustrated in this book.
